What We Believe

THE SCRIPTURES
2 Timothy; 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:19-21
We believe the Bible is God’s written revelation to man. Its sixty-six books of the New and Old Testaments are authoritative and sufficient for the believer. As originally written, every word of Scripture was spoken by God to Spirit-controlled men, and is, therefore, incapable of error and perfectly accurate in all matters to which it speaks. It is the supreme standard for all human conduct and should be interpreted literally giving consideration to its language, grammar, context, and historical setting.

GOD
Job 9:2-13; Isaiah 43:9-15; Matthew 22:37-40
We believe in the One and Only, Living and True God who is a spirit; the Creator and Supreme Ruler of all things, worthy of all honor and glory. He is complete perfection in every aspect of His being including His holiness, love, power, and eternality. God is three distinct persons yet one in substance, co-equal in every way, and each having a work in the redemption of man.

JESUS CHRIST
1 Corinthians 15:1-8; 115:24-28; Philippians 2:5-11
We believe that our Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, revealer of God, and one with God. He became fully man, while remaining fully God, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin. He lived a perfect, sinless life, died for the salvation of man, bodily rose from the grave, and ascended to heaven where He forever intercedes on our behalf before the Father.

HOLY SPIRIT
John 16:7-15; Acts 5:1&3
We believe that the Holy Spirit, as a divine person, is God; equal with God the Father and God the Son. His work today includes convicting of sin, righteousness, and judgment; permanently indwelling and sealing the believer; filling, guiding, teaching, and empowering believers for service. The Holy Spirit gives believers various gifts to enable the church to fulfill Christ’s commission, but these gifts are no longer revelatory, neither is any one gift an evidence of salvation or spirituality.

CREATION AND THE FALL
Genesis 1-3; Isaiah 14:12-17; Ezekiel 28:12-19; Psalm 139; Romans 3:9-23; Romans 6:23; Ephesians 6:10-18
We believe in the Biblical account of the creation of the universe, angels, and man; a literal, historical event of God’s direct, immediate, creative act. God created sinless, spiritual beings known as angels, or ministering messengers, to serve Him. Satan, a high ranking angel once called Lucifer, sinned through pride and led a great number of angels to rebel against God. These fallen angels, now called demons, were expelled from heaven and continually oppose God’s kingdom. The destiny of Satan and his followers is eternal judgment in the lake of fire. Mankind, God’s crowning work of creation, was created in the
likeness of God; spiritually, morally and intellectually, for the purpose of glorifying God. By voluntary disobedience Adam fell into sin, plunging all mankind into judgment and death, so that all mankind are conceived into sin and become willful sinners with the first expression of personal choice, leaving them without excuse before God.

SALVATION
John 3:3-23; 2 Corinthians 5:17-21; Ephesians 2:1-9; Hebrews 10:4-25
We believe that the salvation of sinners is the gift of God freely given by His grace to all those who respond to His calling by turning from their sin to God and placing their trust in the person and completed work of Jesus Christ. This new birth results in the forgiveness of sins, a renewed relationship with God, and eternal life; making the believer a child of God, secure forever.

THE CHRISTIAN LIFE
Ephesians 4:14-16; 1 Peter 1:13-16
We believe that those who have personally received Christ as Savior are called with a holy calling to walk not after the sinful nature, but after the righteousness of the Spirit of God within them. While believers are declared righteous and set apart before God at the point of faith, it should be the Christian’s desire to personally grow in his faith as well. Growth can be enhanced as born-again followers of Christ seek to practice the following:
* Daily study and memorization of Scripture Psalm 119:9-16
* Regular prayer Luke 11:1-10
* Immediate confession of sin 1 John 1:9
* Faithful involvement in the local church Hebrews10:24-25
* The work of evangelism and discipleship Matthew 28:19-20
* Exercising their spiritual gift(s) Romans 12:3-8
* Separation from sin and false teaching 2 Corinthians 6,7
* Submission to human government, except Romans 13:1-7 when government is contrary to Biblical principle
* Responsible stewardship of personal resources Philippians 4

THE CHURCH
Matthew 28:19,20; Acts 2:42-47; 1 Corinthians 5:1-13; Ephesians 2:19-22; Ephesians 4:10-12; 1 Timothy 3:1-16
We believe that all saved persons from Pentecost to the Rapture comprise the Universal Church which is the Body and Bride of Christ. It is expressed on Earth through the local church. The local church is an organized congregation of immersed believers united together for the purpose of glorifying God. Christ is the head of the local church which governs itself as directed by Christ through the Holy Spirit and Scripture. The local church has two offices, that of elder (bishop, pastor) and deacon (servant, minister). Christ has given the church two ordinances to observe: believer’s Baptism and Communion.

FUTURE EVENTS
Luke 16:23-28; Jude 13; 2 Corinthians 5:10; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 19-21
We believe God has a plan and program for the Church, Israel, and the Nations that may begin at any moment with the return of Christ in the air to rapture the church. This will be followed on Earth by the pouring out of God’s wrath on the Nations for 7 years (Tribulation), during which the Church will receive her reward and celebrate her union with Christ at the marriage supper of the Lamb. The Church will return with Christ to Earth to establish His 1000 year kingdom (Millennium). After this reign, the Nations will make a final rebellion which will be crushed by Christ and lead to the Great White Throne Judgment. With the wicked condemned to Hell, the righteous will enter the eternal state with God, the New Heaven and the New Earth.
